Are websites expensive to run?
Not if the site is built simply and someone is clearly responsible for it. A website from us costs nothing to run in its first year, then £29 a month, plus about £12 a year for the domain. That is the whole list for keeping the site up. Email and changes to the site are separate, and both are set out below.
What the £29 a month covers
- Hosting on our account, so there is nothing to set up and no bill to chase
- A backup every day, with a restore we have actually tested
- A check every five minutes, so we know the site is down before you do
- Security and platform updates
- If it breaks through no fault of yours, we answer within one working day and fix it at no charge
What you pay separately
The domain, at about £12 a year, renews in your name and you pay for it. Email is not included: your domain works with whichever email provider you prefer, and we will point you at the cheap ones if you want an address on it. Changes to the site are quoted first.
Your first year
The care plan is included for the first twelve months. We email you 30 days before the first payment is due, and again 7 days before. If you tell us before then that you do not want it, nothing is charged at all.
If you stop
The care plan is monthly with no minimum term, and you can stop it on 30 days’ notice. If you cancel, we hand over your site files and keep the site online for a further 30 days so you have time to move it. The site is ordinary files that any host can run, so moving it is a normal job, not a rescue.
Fair questions
Are websites expensive to run?
A Yusr Digital website costs nothing to run in its first year, then £29 a month for hosting, daily backups, five-minute checks and updates, plus about £12 a year for the domain.
Do I have to take the care plan?
No. The first year is included. Before the first payment is due we email you twice, and if you tell us you do not want it nothing is charged. The site is ordinary files that any host can run.
How much should I pay someone to host my website?
For a small business site, hosting on its own is a small part of the cost. Most of what you pay for is the person who keeps it backed up, checked and updated. Ours is inside the £29 a month care plan, with no separate hosting bill.
